D300 Seeking Teachers for Auto Mechanics, Woodworking, CAD, Video Production, and Electricity Fields

Have you ever considered becoming a teacher in your community? If so, District 300 may have an exciting job opportunity for you!

District 300 is looking for individuals interested in becoming industrial education teachers. We are currently looking for individuals who would like to share their knowledge in Auto Mechanics, Woodworking, CAD, Video Production, and Electricity Fields.

While there are many reasons why people choose to become teachers, the primary reason is that the teaching profession can provide purpose and joy to one’s life by impacting a child’s future. Some understand this passion as they start their first career out of college; some teachers come to the profession after losing passion for their current career or because of life events.

As a teacher, you will be involved in passing on knowledge and skills that are necessary for individuals to become productive, thoughtful, and reasonable citizens of society. You will be helping young people develop their abilities to make small and large decisions. The success of our communities is based on the investment we place in each individual student you will be teaching.

For those who do not have a teaching degree, the State of Illinois offers alternative teacher certification program for Auto Mechanics, Woodworking, CAD, Video Production, and Electricity Fields as follows:

  • Minimum of 60 college semester hours*
  • Documented a minimum of 2,000 hours of experience outside of education in the area to be taught
  • Must apply online and submit ISBE form 73-23

  • Can only teach in the specified area of endorsement
  • Valid for grades 7-12

*The institution of higher education must hold regional accreditation.  For endorsements requiring a specific number of semester hours, coursework must be at the 100-level of higher.  Remedial coursework will not be accepted.
