A District 300 resident for more than 30 years, Ms. Miller is the most veteran member of the current school board and has served as board secretary since 1999.
She is Senior Vice President for Novare, Inc. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree and Juris Doctorate degree from DePaul University. Her three children are District 300 graduates, including a graduate of UIC and the other a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Ms. Miller is co-ordinator for the McHenry County Peer Jury Program. She is Vice-Chair for Hospice of Northeastern Illinois and is Board Chair for the Central States Advisory Board for the American Bankruptcy Institute. Her District 300 volunteer positions have included: chair of the Rezoning Committee, member of Consortium for Educational Change, improvement teams for Eastview Elementary School (16 continuous years) and Algonquin Middle School, and PTO co-president. Her community involvement has included: committee chair for Cub Scout Pack 151; committee chair for Boy Scout Troop 151; chair for Cub Scout activities for the Kishwaukee District; religious education teacher St. Margaret Mary (Recipient of Bishop O'Niel Catechist of the Year Award); coach of T-Ball and soccer; and co-chair of the children's committee for Angel Towne.
Additionally, Ms. Miller is a member of the Illinois Association of School Boards (IASB), the Illinois Bar Association (ISBA), the American Bar Association (ABA), the American Bankruptcy Institute (ABI), and the International Women Insolvency and Restructuring Confederation (IWIRC). She is admitted to practice law in the courts of Illinois, Northern District of Illinois, Southern District of Indiana, and District of Missouri.
Dave Alessio

Dave and his family have lived in Algonquin for 12 years. His three children attend District 300 elementary and middle schools. He was a member of the Board in 2006 and elected in 2009 for a 4-year term. Past D300 service includes the finance and facilities advisory committees. His education includes a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and a Master of Science in engineering from The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. He currently is a principle staff engineer of RF systems. Past work experience includes a decade as a radar systems engineer with the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, D.C., and as a firefighter in Fairfax County, Virginia. Dave is involved in many community activities, including serving as treasurer of the Algonquin Area Youth Organization.
Stephen J. Fiorentino

Steve is founder and owner of Fiorentino Consulting, LLC, which helps companies with business plan development, strategic planning, key client acquisition and hiring and retention of top employees. He is also working in their family financial planning business. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in pharmacy from the University of South Carolina and has completed numerous executive management courses. Prior to launching his consulting practice, Steve held several management positions in the pharmaceutical industry over the course of 20 years. His most recent experience was building a sales and medical team of 100 people for a start-up bio-tech company and managing an operating budget of over 300 million dollars. He has effectively recruited, hired, trained and retained over 200 high performing employees in the pharmaceutical and healthcare sector.
Steve is very active in his church community: Light of Christ in Algonquin. He is a youth religious education teacher, care minister, past leader of community outreach and leads the church expansion team in preparing to worship at an additional site. He has coached children of all ages in basketball and softball and has been active with AAYO, Dundee Park District, and LITH YAA. Steve moved to Algonquin in 1996 with his wife, Robin, and has a daughter in a District 300 school.
Karen Roeckner

Karen Roeckner is the Manager of Electronic Health Records for Private Practices at Resurrection Health Care. Karen has over 25 years of experience in the education and training field, with a Bachelor of Science degree in business education and a Masters degree in secondary education. Married with two children, Greg and Alyssa, Karen resides in Carpentersville. Karen has been part of many District 300 committees over the years, including FACE, TRAC, SIP, Connect 300, and Community Building Committee. Karen has also been involved in committees and served on PTO boards at Westfield, Liberty and Dundee Middle School. Karen's community involvement includes: CORE4Kids, SchoolsNow, and the League of Women Voters. She served as a Carpentersville Village Trustee from 2001 to 2005.
Joe Stevens

Joe Stevens has lived in Dundee Township for close to 20 years and is a retired executive from Sherman Health, having spent most of his life in the healthcare arena. He holds an MBA from Lake Forest Graduate School of Management. Currently Joe is President of Nine Rivers Enterprises and does leadership training for consulting companies and also does both management consulting and leadership training for medical groups. He is a past chair of the Greater Elgin Family Care Center and has served in a variety of volunteer capacities.
Chris Stanton

Chris Stanton has an extensive background in business and now works as an independent consultant, specializing in information technology and management engagements. For more than two decades, he held a senior management position in information technology and was a member of a corporate board of directors. Chris and his wife of 25 years, Jeannie, have lived in the Hampshire area since 1991 with their three sons. All three of their sons are district graduates, the youngest attends Hampshire High School and will begin at Drake University in fall 2009, their middle son attends Drake University, and their eldest graduated from Eckerd College and is currently enrolled in a Masters of Science program at Loyola University Chicago. Chris went to public schools throughout his education, including his attendance of Central Ohio Technical College and Ohio State University, where he studied accounting and operations management. Over the years, he has volunteered with several District 300 groups including Connect 300 and the school Board's Construction & Facility Oversight Committee.
Susie Kopacz

Susie and her husband, Gary, reside in Hampshire, where they raised three daughters, all of whom are District 300 graduates. From 2003-2007, as an elected member of the D300 School Board, Susie chaired the Board Education Committee and co-chaired the Board Construction & Facility Committee. Prior to being elected to the School Board, she was a member of the School Improvement Teams at Hampshire elementary, middle and high schools. She served on the 4-block district-wide study committee and also on the Re-Zoning District Committee.
Susie is a former school teacher. She taught grades 6-8 (middle school social studies) and elementary grades 3 and 4. She also taught for several years as a substitute teacher. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in History from Illinois State University. She completed her elementary certification at Elmhurst College. She has three decades of small business experience as an independent contractor with Mary Kay Cosmetics. Currently she holds the position of Future Executive Sales Director with Mary Kay Cosmetics.
