CLASS SIZE
Class sizes did increase in the 2010-2011 school year, as part of the D300 School Board's need to reduce the budget because of the state budget crisis. Please see our Budget webpage for more information.
ELEMENTARY CLASS SIZS 2010-2011
Kindergarten cap (maximum) = 33
Grades 1 & 2 cap = 35
Grades 3, 4 & 5 cap = 37
Similarly, MIDDLE SCHOOL class size minimums for academic classes have risen to 33 students , 38 students minimum per physical education class, and 32 students minimum per exploratory classes.
HIGH SCHOOL class sizes have also increased, and there are fewer high school electives taught (based on the level of student interest).
TAX RATE $3.86 This is the district's lowest tax rate since 2005; the tax rate is now 5% lower than it was immediately after the passage of the March 2006 referendum. D300 has one of the lowest tax rates among all K-12 school districts in the Kane and McHenry county area. Our tax rate is also lower than the state average.

OPERATING COST PER STUDENT $9,695 This bout $1,400 lower than the state average, and it is lower than almost all other K-12 school districts in Kane and McHenry counties.
